The Town of Banff is conducting a Childcare Needs Assessment. We want to learn about the current childcare situation in Banff. We are conducting 3 surveys: Banff families who are using childcare services or are looking for childcare, childcare workers, and employers/businesses in Banff.

A notable finding from the 2023 Community Social Assessment (CSA) was the decline in the number of families living in Banff. During the engagement phase of the CSA, many families indicated childcare, housing and cost of living challenges as primary stressors they are experiencing. Some families shared that these pressures may cause them to move out of the community.

A report with a summary of findings will be presented to Banff Town Council and shared publicly. The development of appropriate recommendations and collaborative work toward creative solutions will follow. No personal information will be shared; comments will remain anonymous. Any personal information collected, such as email addresses for contests, will be disconnected from responses provided.

1. Parent/Family Survey

Understanding the challenges and experiences of Banff families in relation to childcare will help formulate better discussions and creative ideas to address childcare needs in the community. This survey is closed.

2. Childcare Worker Survey

This survey is for current or former childcare staff who have worked in the childcare sector in Banff the past five years, serving families with children aged 12 or under. If you are working, or worked at multiple childcare service locations, please summarize your experiences in your responses or reflect on the location which you worked at the most.

This survey will take approximately five minutes. All respondents will have a chance to win a $50 gift card to a local grocery store. Entries to this draw are not connected to survey responses.

3. Banff Business Survey

This survey is for managers or owners of businesses and organizations in Banff that employ staff who are parents or caregivers of children aged 12 or under. Please have one representative of your business/organization complete this survey on behalf of the organization. This voluntary and anonymous survey will help create a thorough Childcare Needs Assessment for Banff.

The survey will take approximately three minutes. The Town of Banff will not collect your name, email or IP address.

    This survey is to be completed by a manager or owner of a business or organization in Banff that employs staff who are parents or caregivers of children aged 12 or under.  

    Please have one representative complete this survey on behalf of your organization. The survey will take approximately 3 minutes. All responses are confidential and results will not identify any business.

    Completing this anonymous survey will help create an informative and actionable Childcare Needs Assessment in Banff.
