The Town of Banff manages the bus lot east of the Mount Royal Hotel, accessed from Beaver Street and the alleyway.
This survey of commercial bus and shuttle operators follows up on a survey in August 2025. Questions in this survey are expanded using feedback from the previous survey.
Changes in 2025 and 2026 include:
- Change to 15-minute loading
- Repainting bus/shuttle parking lanes
- Additional "No Idling" signs
- More bus loading spaces added on Beaver Street beside the Mount Royal Bus Lot
- More signage about no idling commercial vehicles
- More frequent patrols and summer information officer
- Video recording of bus parking area to track stall use and turnover
The Town is continuing to assess the use of the lot and is exploring ways to improve the experience for customers and operators. Feedback gathered in 2026 will be presented to Banff Town Council as part of future considerations for this Mount Royal Public Bus Lot.
This 2026 operator survey will be open until mid-October.

According to the Town’s preliminary data, implementing the 15-minute loading zone helped increase loading stall turnover, creating capacity for more buses, and fewer periods when buses and shuttles could not access the lot.
