Banff Viewpoints

The Town of Banff is seeking feedback from recreation participants. We would like to learn more about what you like, don&rsquo;t like, or would like to see offered by the Town of Banff in the future. The Town of Banff&rsquo;s Community Services recreation staff and contractors deliver year-round recreation programs, sessions and events that respond to the goals set in <a href="https://cpra.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/FrameworkForRecreationInCanada_2016wcitation.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Canada&rsquo;s Framework for Recreation</a>. These goals include Active Living, Inclusion &amp; Access, Connecting People &amp; Nature, Supportive Environments &amp; Recreation Capacity. Programs and events offered for residents of many ages by recreation includes:<ul><li>Drop-in sport, fitness and leisure sessions at The Fenlands and Banff Elementary School.</li><li>Afterschool &amp; summer programs like Into the Wild, Rise &amp; Shine, The Basement and Get Out.</li><li>Registered programs like Try-its, first aid, painting, dance, lacrosse, canoeing, ice climbing, hiking and more.</li><li>BanffLIFE registered and drop-in physical, educational and social programs for Banff residents aged 18 &ndash; 30.</li><li>Community events like Home Grown Art Show, Parks and Recreation Day, Mountain Madness and more.</li></ul>By completing this survey, we hope to improve the experiences you or your child(ren) have at Town of Banff recreation programs, sessions and events. Recreation Participant Survey

The Town of Banff wants to learn about the current childcare situation for Banff families who are using childcare services or are looking for childcare. A notable finding from the 2023 Community Social Assessment (CSA) was the decline in the number of families living in Banff. During the engagement phase of the CSA, many families indicated childcare, housing and cost of living challenges as primary stressors they are experiencing. Some families shared that these pressures may cause them to move out of the community. Understanding the challenges and experiences of Banff families in relation to childcare will help formulate better discussions and creative ideas to address childcare needs in the community. The input from this survey will be compiled along with feedback from current and former childcare staff and service providers. A report with a summary of findings will be presented to Banff Town Council and shared publicly. The development of appropriate recommendations and collaborative work toward creative solutions will follow. No personal information will be shared.
